I haven't been exercising or eating well in a while now, and while I kept considering the idea I hadn't actually made any progress till a series of what might be gall bladder problems and a holiday gave me the space to think about it. There's something about having been out on the Portuguese coast, actively lying in the sun and snoozing, rather than managing to read much of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and the realisation that I'm not self-concious about my body but would like to be more active/muscular that's helped me kickstart a new health regime. The calorie/exercise app for my new phone certainly isn't hurting the endeavour either. It's been some time since I've done any sort of workout so it was a nice surprise today to find out that I still enjoy that sort of thing, though the fact that I still enjoy whey protein shakes is probably debatable in it's impact. I recall a friend once telling me that while protein bars taste like cardboard after a while you start to like them, which is something I ignored at first because I assumed his boxing background had something to do with it, but, when I look at it is probably where I am with protein shakes.

Now I just need to stick with it or at least set a target of being in some sort of shape by my cousin's wedding in November.
