Mandy, Brown & the Budget

Brown can’t sack me – Mandelson BBC News

Asked whether he would keep his job under Mr Brown, Mr Mandelson told BBC Radio 4's The World At One: "I don't know whether this is going to come as a disappointment to him, but he can't actually fire me.

Just when we’d all thought Mandy had fallen off the edge of the world or at least piped down about Labour party internal politics. I’m so very close to rubbing my hands together gleefully because it’s been a while since there’s been an all out Labour bitch-fight. And Clare Short was less involved in sniping so much as, with all due respect; disagreeing. This should be entertaining.

Brown denies Budget ‘con trick’ BBC News

Beyond whatever’s being said at a first glance all the Budget tells me is that New Labour is really trying to live up to it’s Tory aspirations. Any of those true blue voters who love harking back to the glory days can probably seriously start considering voting for Labour or committing honourable suicide since their only other alternative seems to be Cameron. The message seems to be clear: New Labour is good for business but funnily enough not quite ready for the Euro.

And to think, just earlier today I was threatening to run off to Moldova to hide from the EU. I may have to rethink that now because things are starting to get interesting again.
