233 words. PG. Post-series. Written with one pairing in mind but probably applicable to at least two that I can think of or possibly even three.
Unravelling
Disclaimer: Trinity Blood belongs to Sunao Yoshida, Gonzo and others. Hellraiser belongs to Cliver Barker, New World Pictures and others.

She held the puzzle in her hands; old hands, wrinkled and occasionally spotted with the discoloured patches of age. A puzzle that once solved would give her unimaginable pleasure. But how could a puzzle do anything like that?
She’d never tried to solve it. This strange polished box that one day, long ago, a laughing demon had placed into her hands.
He was dead now or so she’d heard. Dead like all the rest of them. So how could it hurt to play with a silly toy now?
Sliding her fingers over the panels, feeling them click readily into place. Slowly unravelling, piece by damning piece. Each polished panel so reflective that she feared that should she hold it close enough; it would show her, her own aging face.
He’d always promised her horrors and pleasures in equal measure. Always dangling such tantalising promises just beyond her reach. Temptation incarnate or so he’d always been to her. More forbidden, more mesmerising, more destructive than anything she’d ever encountered before or since.
The pieces slid aside more easily now as if gathering momentum. Would it work? Would it truly bring her ecstatic dissolution?
The last piece slid into place.
Nothing.
She was just an old woman sitting alone in a patch of sunlight. Clutching a memory in her hand. And if she closed her eyes; she was sure she could hear him laughing.

Granted, that might not have been the real Lament Configuration but someone's evidently done a good enough job of pretending it is. And though I initially had one pairing in mind, I can probably think of at least two that would readily fit.

And I’m kicking myself over not having realised that Clive Barker was responsible for both that and Nightbreed because they’re actually rather similar, though the Nightbreed game was seemingly impossible to complete.(no subject)
