Generally

  • Logitech not only disables my function keys on a wake from hibernate but also at random, while I’m typing. It’s happening with such regularity that it’s starting to look like organised resistance.
  • Spent ten minutes positioning my gmail notification icon in Firefox just so the other day. The other options were use another extension that didn’t give me the mouse over popup so I opted for the one with too many options instead.
  • In an attempt to not spend so much on cigarettes have started smoking cheap Pall Malls. The menthols aren’t bad but the regulars seem to burn down oddly. Should just take a cigarette case full of Belomorkanal really: it’s not as if I’m going to run out of them any time soon.
  • Keep coming back to this Dilbert strip and laughing.
  • Have found a Starbucks where I can rattle off my regular order and they don’t bat an eyelid. They also get it right. Oddly placed though, really wouldn’t have expected it considering the location.
  • Of course there’s a Pret outside the Gherkin. Figures. My opinion of Pret also made it into fic.
  • Likewise, the fact that I no longer feel like I’m going to fall off the X-trainer when I use it made it into fic format too.
  • I’m glad we’ve reached the point where people have stopped saying HMRC and then telling me what that stands for. Of all the acronyms that’s the one I actually knew.
  • For some reason had The Cardigans’ “Lead Me Into the Night” running through my head on Friday morning. No idea what that means or why it happened but, much like my only grey hair showing visibly in the mirror that morning, I’ll take it to mean only good things to follow shortly.
  • After buying the tacky mug I promised myself the other day, also managed to pick up a set of scotch glasses because I was getting tired of drinking scotch and soda from tall glasses. Proceeded to come home and sit down with my drink, still wearing my pinstripe trousers and shirt with cufflinks... and realised that perhaps, just perhaps, I’d become a stereotype. At least it wasn’t the shirt with cuffs and collar that are a different colour to the rest of the shirt.
  • In coffee news, having tried Starbuck’s Toffee Nut latte, though I had mine with soy, I’m not sure that I was particularly impressed by it. The flavour just wasn’t distinctive enough for me, unlike the Egg Nog latte that, while it was too sweet for my palate, was at least distinctly sweet throughout. That leaves me with the Gingerbread latte and, possibly, the Peppermint mocha to try next.
  • Starbucks Christmas Blend VIA on the other hand is a nice, solid coffee that I could get use to drinking regularly in the mornings.
