"And yes, I still look with some suspicion on anyone who works in Egypt wearing khaki field coats and pith helmets. AND THERE ARE MANY."

Wolfowitz blames media for exit BBC News
He’s like a little yappy dog really. Did no one ever tell him that discretion is the better part of valour? Not that he has any of that either.
Opening statement to the ACP-EU Council of Ministers meeting (pdf) – Mandelson European Commission: External Trade
Economic Partnership Agreements. The ACP countries are obviously important again now that Eastern Europe is sliding quite happily in the EU.

The champagne overdraft BBC News
What? How about just not pretending to be something you’re not and learning to be happy with what you are? Learning to be content with who you are is surely the quickest and cheapest route to actually feeling better about yourself after all. It’s not about ‘living up to’ any expectations but rather creating your own expectations of what you personally want to do or change or be. And if it doesn’t work? Then adapt. Learn to change your plan of action and because it’s you enacting your own adaptation around events that you’d have no control over anyway, and that gives you agency in the matter. You can’t control externalities but it doesn’t matter because the only thing that you’re really responsible for is how you deal with those externalities. And once you can sit happily with yourself and be content with who you are and the direction you’re going in then it doesn’t matter whether or not you have an empty bottle of Moët on your shelf at random. And the only reason I’ve got said empty bottle is because I’ve been practically ordered to keep it because it’s got swarovski crystals on the side.

In other news, this is proving to be quite lovely and not at all as malty as I tend to find Assam. That said, I can stomach whatever blend of English Breakfast tea I have in the kitchen on occasion since it’s not entirely just Assam on it’s own. Though having gone to check exactly what it is that I’m drinking, the fact that my Assam comes from the Brahmaputra valley itself probably speaks volumes of the strength of it. It’s no wonder that I can only indulge in a cup every so often then.
