Wordy comments aren’t necessary though they are nice at times. As for your ESL status I’m always impressed by the fluency of most ESL-speakers and in this case please bear in mind that I recognise non-native-speaker indicators in English quite easily because I’ve interacted with enough non-native-speakers to become familiar with those mistakes. If you ever listened to a Burmese speaker attempting to translate a sentence directly into English you’d find that the gender pronouns are usually all over the place for example.
Wieder is terrible in terms of plot and it does seem that a lot of new fans have been draw in due to it which puts them at a disadvantage. Then again, considering that one English language fansite for the series seems to suggest that under an Athenian democracy everybody had a vote, I’m fairly convinced that there are enough fans who really don’t want anything like actual history or politics getting in the way of their bishounen.
