zOMG: Drawning

In which Narsus discovers that he’s too drunk to say anything humorous or sensible...
Term has finished and exams start next week.

So I drew something. I don’t quite know what I was getting at because he was meant to be holding a rose not a poppy but never mind. The German for ‘poppy’ is ‘mohn’ by the way.

And I made a new icon:
Patriarcha/Leviathan OTP! Omgtheirloveissoarrogantlyelitist.
"My fandom thinks you’re too stupid to rule yourselves."

Because thinking about it rationally, “Patriarcha” presumes that you’re too stupid to understand why you need to be ruled and “Leviathan” still thinks you're stupid but should at least understand that you need to be ruled.
I suppose that makes the Trustee Model of government their Mpreg Stu love-child.

And I have an interesting bottle of wine. Time to go watch the latest film version of “Phantom of the Opera” I think.
Also, is it just me or does this track say something or other about cat ears at some point?

The internet also lies to me. )

Six degrees of separation - political theory

Domestic blather before the important part )

1) The Theory of Absolutism states that the populous need to be ruled. Whether they realise this or not they need to be subjugated to the will of an absolute monarch because otherwise without this society will fall into chaos. But exchange that absolute monarch with a government and you have...

2) The Trustee Model of government because representative democracy that it is, it still presumes that the elected representatives of the public will rule in the best interest of the people they represent. Which may not necessarily follow the actions that the public wish them to take, though this is an altruistic action that follows...

3) The Utilitarian school of thought that states that in the application of cosmopolitan theory, the greatest good for the greatest many should be perused. The nature of this argument then recognises...

4) The Kantian assertion that all human beings are an end in of themselves. Because each individual should have provided for them an environment which allows that they may be able to reach their full potential. Unfortunately if all individuals are perusing self-interest then this would lead to...

5) The Marxist assertion that the frivolous pursuit of self-interest would lead to the degradation of society as citizens placed their own gains above the gains of society as a whole, which would be a complete inversion of...

6) The Civic-Republican tradition of citizenship which stresses the citizens’ duty to the state though servitude to said state and understanding that through this duty they should be ruled, as expressed by... The Theory of Absolutism.

And around we go. Because the more I look at it, the more it’s starting to look like cosmopolitan and absolutist theory are inexorably linked by the simple virtue of being the theoretical leanings of elites; because who else has the time and leisure to sit about and think this stuff up? ^_~
