narcasse: Sebastian Flyte. Brideshead Revisited (2008) (maybe)
I don’t think I even know what I’m writing any more because I wrote this right in the middle of another piece I was writing. Though I’ve got two things that need finishing and just for the record... why does all the action seem to take place in Ludwig’s bedroom? Well, not action in that sense... maybe...

Yet another drabble )

And depending on whom one thinks this drabble is about, it might or might not have been highly influenced by the [livejournal.com profile] nekonexus & [livejournal.com profile] kintail magnum opus: Engaged.

It’s too early in the day and I’m in no mood for serious analysis but having just looked at [livejournal.com profile] o0firefly0o’s translation of episode 8 of Meine Liebe I demand an appreciative squee for a quote from the Book of Revelations!

Ludwig’s actual quote is:
"I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast. She was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and hatred."

And it’s directed at Ishtar which is both amusing since she later turns up in his bed and also interesting because the Whore of Babylon rides on the back on the Dragon, so isn't an independent force on her own, which might or might not mean anything.
Of course I’m now also twitching to go dig out my bibles to see if I can find which version the exact quote might be from, if any.
Yes, I have at least three different versions. I’ve also got the Apocrypha.

And in a vague leap of logic, the fact that Ludwig is familiar with the Book of Revelations might be used to suggest that the Kuchen Church is similar to the Catholic one. Since, while friends in Anglican schools were laughing at the Song of Songs, our lot were reading the Book of Revelations and cooking up theories as to how many signs for the End of Days we’d already had.

And the analysis... )

*throws objectivity out of the window*

In a nutshell; Ishtar fails at strategics.
Honey, the biggest obstacle to your becoming a Strahl candidate isn’t your gender. )

This doesn’t exactly change my first analysis much, though I suppose this time round I’ve been a little harsher, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] o0firefly0o’s recent more detailed translation.

"So it is said that if you know others and know yourself, you will not be imperilled in a hundred battles; if you do not know others but know yourself, you win one and lose one; if you do not know others and do not know yourself, you will be imperilled in every single battle."

A belated birthday present for the dear [livejournal.com profile] kintail.

A random quiz because I can’t just keep going through Japanese import tariffs non-stop and I’m on a lunch break anyway.

It lives here )

You know how the label says that Lapsang Souchong is a golden tea with a distinctive smoky character and that you’d probably like it if you drink Earl Grey anyway, well no one bothers to mention just how strong that distinctive smoky character actually is. It’s nice and all but does smell rather strongly of smoke to the point where a packet of Marlboros would actually produce a much milder aroma. Marlboro Reds that is, not any of this Lite nonsense.
