To start with I should point out that what this isn’t going to be is a “Damn, white folks” rant or one of those conversely apologetic ‘but white folks are people too’ screeds. Because what I am going to talk about is the inadvertent ethnocentricity that seems to crop up from time to time and which is more insidious than outright racism because the perpetrators honestly don’t seem to mean any harm and don’t realise what they’re doing. And ethnocentricity isn’t limited by racial boundaries.
