Three drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] emthornhill. With perhaps one subtle spoiler for one of the Bad Ends in the game (Envy).

What St. Germant had always wanted, only wanted was to be with those he loved, in particular with the one person he loved best above all. It didn’t have to be intimately or solely, he just wanted to remain close at his beloved’s side.

His was always an innocent love, not permitting himself to ever ask for more. All he needed was to see the light of Georik’s eyes, an eternal constant by which he set his course. He’d never asked for more than that. He’d never even asked and that perhaps was why his wish had never been granted.

Mikhail had always told himself that it was pride that compelled him to pursue his friend, pride and competition. He’d always told himself that theirs was an eternal rivalry, a battle without end. It would go on into the ever after and because of that they would always be together.

It wasn’t more than camaraderie, he’d always said. Nothing more than martial companionship which never explained why when he knelt at Confession, he always found himself confessing his greatest sin to be his lies.

On his knees clutching a rosary fast, he almost wished that Georik truly were a demon.

Despite what he often says, Mephistopheles always watches as wholly inappropriate suitors collect about his lord like flies. They are all fools, ridiculously unsuited and were he certain of discretion he’d likely pelt them with half eaten pomegranates in an act of poetic justice. He’d do it but Georik would never approve so he is forced to content himself with spitting the seeds out noisily into the fireplace while he lounges at his lord’s side.

For demons there will only ever be other demons as companions, lovers. So despite his sulking, for the moment he will patiently bide his time.

For some reason the image of Mephistopheles eating pomegranates presented itself rather determinedly so I figured I could make use of it. It’s also marginally suitable because of the Greek mythological reference to the underworld and the Erinyes, considering Mephistopheles’ temperament anyway.
