Today is one of those odd days, when the moon is waxing and it occurs to me once again that these days I don’t do much by way of personal blogging. I tend to post fanfic or rants with the occasional aside about what I’ve been drinking or cooking but pretty much little else. But then when I think about it, what else is there to say really?
Recently the weather has been awful, so much so that half the time I can’t sleep at night because of the horrible sticky heat. Yesterday evening alone it was so hot and muggy that we had to be ridiculously cheeky at the restaurant and ask them to bag up the main courses to bring home because after the two starter courses it was just so appallingly hot and late that everyone just wanted to go to sleep.
Today I ate sticky rice with beef and beanshoots for breakfast.
Sweet and sour anything seems to just put me off these days.
I’ve been drinking more green tea of late.
It’s been too hot to work on new networking issues.
I have more official documentation to fiddle with but I might just put that off for another day.
Is it just me or are more and more people not using ‘drabble’ to mean either a hundred words exactly or even a short piece of writing?
Does it suddenly seem that fewer and fewer people are aware of urban myth and just mythos in general these days? Why are things that I knew as trivia in school suddenly deep, dark secrets that people simply aren’t looking up for themselves? Is popular culture regurgitating the mythology of my childhood in such a way that not only is it proving that trends cycle but also that people are simply failing to do any research themselves now?
My patience for idiots is growing shorter by the day.
Who are these people who never dream or imagine anything that isn’t spelt out for them?
Is fandom becoming less intelligent?
Even the newsfeeds have nothing new to them.
Watching the EuroNews channel in French sometimes actually makes sense to me. (I usually listen in German.)
I may have actually found a stupidly easy solution to the driver problem for this PC tablet for
kintail.
Last night that Vox thing featured in my dreams, as well as the replacement of ‘St. Germant’ in what appeared to be a fic with ‘Eduard’ instead.
I still need a haircut.
I need to make a phonecall too.
Possibly I also need to buy a new teapot.
And I’d like to go see Wicked at some point, since it’s showing in London.
So there we have it, a personal post in a nutshell. There’s not much to it still so that’s probably good enough indication that it’s time to go back to my articles.
"Once conform, once do what others do because they do it, and a kind of lethargy steals over all the finer senses of the soul."
- Michel de Montaigne
I’m sure one of his essays sounds like it’s talking about self-mutilation but I can’t for the life of me remember which one it is.
