Süleyman and what may have passed before.
Misfortune

The warm water helps cool his ire, the mechanical motions of cleansing himself of a waste of perfumes, of washing out carefully styled curls. There’s no help for it; she refuses to be seduced, to even consider it. Which is wise enough he must admit. Why let herself be seduced by a man who only years before was but a soldier beyond Byzantium’s walls? Of course she wouldn’t allow herself to fall.
So she must be destroyed.
But he will wait. A handful of years is nothing to a Methuselah and time enough for other seeds to come to fruition.
And when the news comes that the young Baron of Luxor is to be her grandson’s tovarăş, he takes to tearing the wings from butterflies again.
“I can’t refuse…“
His smile is coloured by amused indulgence. “Of course not. It will be better for young Radu after all.”
The shivering woman hesitates.
“You don’t want him to meet with a similar-“
“No!”
“…misfortune.” The rest is hardly necessary but there is no reason to be kind.
“I will make better use of you than I did your father.”
He smiles the first time the boy comes to him in tears.

Take the title as reference to a variety of things.
On the whole visionary or monster question, at the moment Süleyman seems to be going down the Vykos route. Though if he turns into a Necronomist at any point then I’ll know that some high level vicissitude is going on and that Vykos has just jumped fandoms.
