Having given this cross-posting lark a go for the last few months I’ve finally given up on it and gone back and retroactively deleted my cross-posts to LJ. I’ve changed my tagging system, have a smattering of new icons and have a cleaner layout on DW, so viewing the same posts with my older, more cluttered LJ seems a little redundant. I also have more of a tendency to be talking out my ideas in posts, rather than posting reviews, these days hence the further differentiation as well.
So from now on, everything goes on on DW and, at the moment, things are also happening on AO3 sporadically as well.

so long I've been away from LJ land and now decided to take a rather spontaneous trip to edinburgh with a friend!
I'm not sure how much free time I'll have since though I've been to London but know nothing of Edinburgh, but perhaps if I get a moment and find a post office, I can send you some teas or coffee. Hope all is well in your world. Perhaps I should print out some of your fics for some in flight reading as I've done before. :)

Just a warning: Edinburgh is a city of slopes, or at least the central part is. You can do a lot of uphill walking just wandering around the city centre. If you don’t mind the walking then there are lots of tours and ghost walks, as I recall. The one I went on, years ago, promised the longest amount of time in the vaults under the city and while it did deliver on that, the highlight of the tour was, inadvertently, being able to spot all the theatrical tricks that were being employed to attempt to make the entire thing more ‘spooky’. In fact, the spookiest thing I encountered in Edinburgh was probably coming across the Royal College of Surgeons and seeing the scalpel sculpture floodlit in the middle of the night. As I recall, I had a very confused “Wait. Is that a knife?” conversation with my companion, while trying to getting a better look through the fence. Also, though I’ve never been there, Plaisir du Chocolat is/was apparently very good and did a wonderful chilli hot chocolate, though google seems to suggest that they’ve since closed down. Lastly, by way of recommendation, I’ve always been told that North American shortbread doesn’t taste like the real stuff so I’d definitely suggest giving some real Scottish shortbread a go, though, when it comes to other things, like Irn-Bru, I’m ambivalent.
