narcasse: Sebastian Flyte. Brideshead Revisited (2008) (pleased)
Not quite a challenge drabble for [livejournal.com profile] finferwen.
I think I'd pay to see the look on Ludwig's face as Naoji dressed him up like a girl...

Now with fabulous fanart by the ever so talented [livejournal.com profile] lanithro.
I giggle every time I look at it.

Got a phonecall from father earlier. Under the pretext of making sure that I’d not forgotten to eat, he was after the bottle of rosso that I’d picked up the other day. Told him I’d drunk it all and received suitably paternal noises of disapproval in response. So dutiful offspring that I am, I went round to visit, abet briefly. Had something to eat and bewailed citizenship essay write-up. Father’s solution? He offered me more wine.
Well done, pater. I shall blame you and großvater for my insipient alcoholism.

A drabble inspired by a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] emthornhill.

Been looking for a quote, a specific quote. Thumbing through the same sections of "The Prince" over and over again and wondering why it wasn’t there. Then it dawned on me, it’s not in "The Prince" it’s in Machiavelli’s "Art of War". Fuck.

Sod it, maybe I really should start quoting "Starship Troopers".

And why do I have "Montesquieu – confederation" randomly written at the bottom of this page of notes?

Edit:
Fate, he mocketh me in all his antagonistic, long-haired, saru-owning glory. It’s not as if it’s my fault that War Gods and Monkey Kings fight over him, while Dragon Kings are reduced to single syllables.

I wanted another quote, something from a nice translation of Aristotle too. Unfortunately the quote I want comes from "Politics" and not the "Nicomachean Ethics" which I have.
I don’t know if that’s better or worse than the Machiavelli because my copy of his "Art of War" is in storage. At least I don’t in fact own a copy of Aristotle’s "Politics", I suppose...

Additional edit:
Can’t spell 'politics' any more, keep trying to write 'polis' instead.
