narcasse: Sebastian Flyte. Brideshead Revisited (2008) (studious)
Tiny ficlet for the birthday of [livejournal.com profile] emthornhill! I though I’d get something else written yesterday but didn’t so to make up for it, this is the first of two fics.

594 worlds. 15. Implied S&M, non-gender specific really.
Practicing the fantasy of dominance.

'Gay weddings' become law in UK (BBC News article.)

Technically they’re calling them ‘civil partnerships’ instead of weddings but its all good.
Of course the Catholic Church is not best pleased over the matter because it allegedly will undermine the institution of marriage, since marriage from that standpoint seems to be about procreation in the sense of quantity and not quality of childrearing if you’re going to be really odd about your motivations.
Also hurrah for corporate business because the opportunity to have a "pink wedding" almost exactly the same as a conventional one [is] opening up a whole new business market.

The dates from which civil partnerships can take place in the UK are the 19th December for Northern Ireland, 20th for Scotland and 21st for England and Wales. So that’s going to make a rather cheery run up to Christmas.
And it’s times like this when I remember why I like the fact that I have 'British Citizen' stamped on my passport. Things happen, laws get changed, the Catholic Church wanks on about it, and everybody ignores them.
Though the idea of marriage still scares me witless.

Limbo consigned to history books (Times online article)

I’m getting disappointed in Ratzinger already. I rather liked the idea of Limbo and now he’s getting rid of it. I mean, he’s the Bavarian ex-head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith Inquisition; why isn’t the man burning witches and then some? This is completely rubbish, what kind of a Sith Lord is he anyway?

Also, why is Limbo currently for sale in the UK?

But more seriously, he’s the Pope. I expect him to do something stupid and pedantic… wait a minute. I see where this is going, he’s going to rewrite doctrine instead of doing anything useful. Hurrah.
Well done, Herr Pope. The furore over this among theological scholars and devout Catholics will easily cover your nefarious plans to burn more witches and do nothing about anything that actually matters. Marvellous.
