Meine Liebe, wieder

Got up today and discovered that I sounded like Tom Waits. Tested this fact by saying ‘and a kitten’ aloud in the kitchen while I made coffee. My cough seems to be coming back too which doesn’t help.
Aside from that, with a link provided by
genkischuldich and liberal application of Googlefish there is something worth my ranting about in regards to Meine Liebe: Wieder finally.
Firstly, from the tiny promo pic at least I can breathe a sigh of relief that it isn’t set post-Rosenstoltz, thereby producing fit-inducing canonical details for me to spit at.
Secondly, I am rather entertained that as far as the requirements to become a Strahl candidate are listed, they comprise of having an “excellent record, good looks, and high birth”. Good looks being essential, of course.
Thirdly, the entire second series somehow appears to be about moving the goal-posts. Suddenly they decide that non-nobility are allowed to become Strahl candidates or at least the supposed new headmaster does anyway. And if Googlefish hasn’t failed me, it seems that the details of this might simply be an entirely series which consists of Ludiwg not being terribly impressed with the idea while Orpherus runs about being patronising under the clever guise of being egalitarian instead.
In fact, let’s have the Narsus-summary:
With the final year of their schooling upon them, our charming young noblemen suddenly discover that not only has the old headmaster been replaced but that his replacement has changed the criteria for Strahl candidate selection. Now with the introduction of non-noble born students the competition for that privileged acceptance into the ranks of Strahl increases exponentially.
With an initially chilly reception the new Strahl candidates are left to wonder from where the first blow will fall.
Will it be undisguised and apparent through Ludwig’s open critique of the new system or will Orpherus’ Machiavellian machinations fell them before they can even begin?
And with a frightening shift in alliances, what could Eduard be planning for these young men who have suddenly acquired society’s acclaim?
Meine Liebe: Wieder - History is written by the victors. (Yes, I’m quoting Churchill for the tag-line.)
Unfortunately since I’ve yet to receive a payslip from Konami, I rather doubt that’ll be how it goes.
