There are occasions when Orpherus worries about the details. Not issues like discretion or inequality but actual mundane details.

“You never did tell me what he said.” Eduard teases.

Orpherus bites his lip nervously in an attempt to stop fabricating a more general context that is bound to make it all sound so much worse than it is. He has a habit of doing that actually, of adding provisos and disclaimers that always make everything sound worse than it is.
So he smiles helplessly instead because how can he really explain that he was entirely too drunk to actually remember?

Ah, I remember this plotline! And now there's drunken floozy!Orpherus to boot. Yay! *dances happily* My, the opportunity for wangst that little situation creates...but I must say it's more fun just the way you've written it. ^_^

A tiny, evil part of my brain is throwing around that "who thinketh to buy villainy with gold" quote, but it can bite me all it wants.

The really should be more of this plotline at some point in which Orpherus gets to do some explaining and we find out why Albato being a crack shot has a bearing on anything.
Must trap more fluffballs in a jar for future inspiration first.

well, he should say "I really was entirely too drunk to really remember" and leave it at that. ^_~ I'm sure Ed will understand, one way or another...
