For some reason prawns fried in a tiny bit of oil, with some dark soy sauce, sesame oil and oyster sauce taste vaguely gingery. I’ve no idea why.
Also not only did today's Japanese rice turn out nice and fluffy but it also didn’t need stupidly larger quantities of water added than you’d expect, which was a nice change from temperamental Basmati which seems to need more or less water depending on its mood or something.
And now, I have the urge to make large vol-au-vents to fill with some fishy sort of filling.
