Building on this and this. Triggered by this by [livejournal.com profile] nekonexus.

If an entity (let’s call him Vlad) doesn’t exist in a timeline, has never existed and will never, within reason, exist then it doesn’t matter where else he might be crossing over from. It doesn’t matter if he may be related to another entity (let’s call him Radu, for argument’s sake) or if he’s similar enough to Radu’s Vlad to fill the quantum slot. As long as Vlad has never existed and will never exist, if Radu wants to open a planar portal and pull Vlad through; he can do so without worrying about time-disruption consequence because he’s not touching on the linear progression of his quantum world at all. Similarly, it’s nothing to do with kinks in the chain of logical progression because Vlad’s logical conclusion in the chain has nothing to do with Radu’s reality. If it happens; it happens and nothing else is terribly affected by it.

It’s only when you have supplanting issues with a previous version (which we’ll call Orpherus) replacing the current version (we’ll call him Dietrich) that problems arise because Orpherus does exist historically and by putting him in Dietrich’s place, you’ve just attempted to fold linear time. Not only that, because you’re trying to put Orpherus into a Dietrich-shaped slot; reality will reject him as not actually being the best fit. Vlad almost fitting isn’t the same because he doesn’t and he’s not meant to in the first place.

Which also explains Eris’ thread because Discord is dipping into hundreds and thousands of shifting reality lines, while Hephaestus has to work within the constraints of those established lines if he’s going to inspire anything. Order and Chaos; balanced. Necessity; the mother of invention after all hence the established framework and Discord; containing all possibilities, therefore tweaking the framework accordingly.

And of course I am and am not talking about my point directly as per usual. ^_~

And how, pray tell, did you get from there to here? ^_^ I'm just curious about process, actually, and what the thought tangent was. Of course it may be gone forever at this point, but nevertheless. Yay for quantumness.

Lets see… the energy sensitivity issue and the automatic blocking out of mind-probing made me think of a comment about ‘tucking in’ the energy overspill that you made some time ago and since uncontrolled overspill could potentially lead to dimensional rifts in that context, it came back to slotting things into quantum holes. Though it’s not as if you don’t know exactly what I’m talking about above anyway but that’s beside the point. That seems like it was the logical progression as far as I remember it at least. It’s not apophenia but rather picking up the subtle triggers that might be easily missed. It’s all gone a bit Sherlock Holmes really.

Ahha. That ... makes sense, actually. ^_^

See, I can do this linear progression malarkey when I have to. ^_~

You never cease to amaze me. And that cause disturbing mental images. oô

It’s an old theory but a good one. And has the potential to make everything meta-myth.

Why can't I stop seeing Radu standing before an inter-dimensional gate and trying to pull Alucard through because he heard he's supposed to have a brother named Vlad, and thinks they actually get along? Maybe I should just sleep now. It's the shisha. *blames it*

That actually makes sense to me. Mind boggling.

Not only that, because you’re trying to put Orpherus into a Dietrich-shaped slot;

o.o For some reason, that made me giggle. Also, while sort of on the topic, one of my requirements is taking Anatomy and Physiology. How hard is that? Some tell me it's killer.

Quantum theory does tend to make sense when you sit down and think about it.

Anatomy and Physiology? It depends on where your interest lies really. If you like those subjects they won’t be particularly hard for you. I didn’t like physiology much but it was interesting enough and I did prod a friend a few times to help me out with the cardiovascular stuff so it was manageable.

I see. ...as long as I don't have to disect anything and smell that chemical they use for embombing I think I'll be ok. I think it's interesting how the human body functions...

Alas, nobody let me anywhere near human cadavers because I wasn’t a medic. Though you might have to do some of that in anatomy perhaps. The only dissections I got close to were sheep lungs, guinea pigs (though that was a drug experiment on their liver muscle post-dissection) and yellow rats (which were a treat during a high school biology class anyway).
In fact, now that I think about it the most entertaining things I got to do were breed drosophila so that they ended up with legs on their heads instead of antennae and create TNT under lab conditions.

Don't ask. (http://li-59.members.linode.com/tubegame/game.html) Somehow, it made me think of you. "All I wanted were cats with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads"?

All I ever got close to was the dissection of a cow-eye in fifth or sixth grade, which the teacher bribed us with to make us shut up. I don't really remember much, but it was quite interesting.

What are those things the other cats drop on you or don’t I want to know?

Everybody else seems to have managed to get at eyes. I never got anywhere near them and now I feel thwarted somehow.

I... don't wait to think about that, really.

Well, I wasn't allowed to touch them either - but maybe you can ask a butcher nearby if he can give you a cow-eye. That's how we got ours back then. Bringing the eye was our task, our teacher just cut it open and explained.

I see...I imagine that I will. I dissected a pig heart once, and that's the only dissection I managed to stomach.

I think all that they're allowed to dissect now are frogs, maybe not even that anymore if PETA got involved. Creating TNT legally must be freaking fun. <3

There was a skinned frog in formaldehyde in one of the cupboards that we always used to admire quite lovingly. Creating TNT on the other hand is much more fun if your lab partner isn’t a complete nit so you don’t have to keep making sure that he’s keeping the ice-bath at the correct temperature to prevent you blowing the entire building up.

I can't stand the smell of formaldehyde...but love to look at things preserved in it for some reason. Maybe I'll get to dissect something...like a flower. Flowers have no smelly innards.

XDD God, we'd be dead at my college then to be sure. ...all my lab partners have been nitwits. We're supposed to freeze water this week in lab by boiling it. I so can't fucking wait to see that.
