Entirely at random because I felt like sharing. There’s something of a theme in there too. Seven tracks I’ve been listening to at the moment:
Gawazi - Omar Faruk Tekbilek
La Condesa - Dracula: el musical
Nosferatu - Dracula: the musical (concept album)
Civic Festhall - Planescape: Torment OST
Nightmarish Waltz - Silent Hill 4 OST
Erotica (remix) - Razed in Black vs Trasmutator
Dance Me to the End of Love - Leonard Cohen

And a meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] nekonexus:

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudocanon.

Original characters are fair game too really.

Hmm, let’s see…

1) When he goes though his fencing kata practice alone he uses a much heavier blade than you’d normally fence with. Something more like a classical arming sword. Which is why his blows have much more power than his opponents would expect in tournaments.
2) His ancestors were actually Crusaders and he still retains ties to Rome. Though as much as he rages about affronts to the Knights Templar he’s never clarified whether or not that’s due to some familial connection.
3) Despite everything they’ve gone through and any accusations that people have made, it’s never crossed Orpherus’ mind that Eduard might not be a noble because deep down as much as he likes the trappings and so on, Orpherus honestly believes that real nobility comes from within.

And a bonus:

4) He claims to have trouble seeing girls. Nobody quite knows what it means when he says that though it may in fact be similar to Naoji’s exclusionary rule where he has trouble seeing anybody else if Ludwig is in the room.

Also:

5) He’s fully aware of how silly family names from Kuchen can sound to foreigners and he often suspects that his is justification enough of his fondness for jam.

And since everybody else got five facts and a bonus:

6) He’s also terribly fond of cheese and likes to heap lots onto his tagliatelle. For someone who occasionally rages that Görz is a German province, damnit he eats an awful lot of what’s typically described as Italian food.

Orpherus seems to take the obvious route of defining identity or opinion by exclusion. It’s easier to point out what you aren’t when you’re trying to define what you are rather than go straight for trying to figure out what you are. He’s probably also slowly defining what makes Orpherus; Orpherus by figuring out what he doesn’t mind and what he objects to which would make sense for someone who’s spent most of his life trying to fit into the mould of what he thinks he should be. Really defining self beyond expectations would take a much more careful feeling out of what does and doesn’t fit, especially if he’s never had the chance to do it before.
