Adventures in tea & surprise Stollen

While I normally decry attempting to do anything on a weekend, something which developed as a tactic for avoiding tourists some years ago, today I’ve actually been quite proactive as far as this Outside malarkey goes. Granted, I did manage my two expeditions today at relatively unsociable times so that I was coming back from loose tea container procurement just as everybody else was deciding that an hour or so before midday was the perfect time to go out, as well as timing my trip to Ikea to coincide with the exit of most parties for the day. I used to go buy apple juice at two in the morning after all so these are actually relatively social times for me to be out and about. And at least I now have a filter teapot of suitable Ikea design to make up for the fact that the other one I’d been considering elsewhere had finally vanished. Still, I may need to make a quick dash for habitation early tomorrow to pick up yet more tea boxes because I acquired eight today and that really isn’t enough, especially since they come in sets of two where one is considerably smaller than an ideal full packet size.
Aside from that though, I was rather delighted to find some Christstollen from Thüle, in Salzkotten not the Arctic one, sat patiently beside the fresh bread in a rather tiny grocery store that I stopped off at this morning in an attempt to find soy milk. There wasn’t any soy milk to be had or sadly any pomegranate syrup but it’d probably be pushing my luck to expect the latter there really and I do know where I can pick some up anyway.
And as a completely unrelated aside; it’s really not the best of ideas to attempt to use hand grips while wearing a thumb ring, I’ve discovered. Though while I’d been meaning to acquire hand grips for some time the thumb ring is entirely accidental since pater managed to get my ring size wrong on his latest trip. Of course I’m not entirely sure if he actually knows how old I am anymore either but then as far as I recall he’s been thirty-five for a good eight years now and I’m pretty sure that he wasn’t even thirty-five to start with so that probably makes us even.
