Discovery (PG. 1667 words.)
Esther prefers to spend her time with the Professor rather than the other young clergy: this is the reason why.
Sherlock Holmes: the truth at last - David McKie, Guardian.co.uk
The above is interesting and something I might well have more thoughts on after I’ve read over a copy of the script for The Secret of Sherlock Holmes.
In other news, El Basha rose molasses are a lot lighter than I’d expected which is a decided improvement over the Afzal ones I tried some time ago. Additionally, the Heba diffuser I picked up in Canada is actually worth my using and not just because my homemade one required I sellotape it to the stem each time. It does genuinely produce a smooth, silent smoke which I’m quite surprised about even though those were the traits advertised.
On the tea front I’ve at last invested in a teaglass with filter and lid so that I can make myself one cup of loose leaf tea without scrabbling about with a teaball or simply using a strainer as a makeshift filter. It’s alarmingly useful for making my own Moroccan mint which tends to be a wee bit stronger than the shop bought variety due to the portions that I put in after all. Shop bought hibiscus & ginger tea on the other hand doesn’t quite work for me and if the overpowering taste of ginger and bizarre smell is standard for that sort of affair then I really am just better of sticking to the variety I make at home.
At least I have finally managed to get around to picking up some variety of ras el hanout which has turned out to be very mild necessitating my adding quite a bit of it to my cooking. I think I may prefer my generic baharat really, though I might experiment with adding mint to it for variation at some point.
And as a final point, having recovered from a despicable cold that meant that smoking was simply out of the question I’ve had a chance to smoke one of my newly acquired Davidoff cigarillos properly at last and it turned out to be quiet wonderful. Not only was the flavour rather charming but when I stubbed the thing out the tobacco leaf actually cracked as it would with a regular cigar rather than just folding over as plenty of other brands do. I may have to revise my preference for Cohiba cigarillos at this rate.
Additionally, as far as Trinity Blood trivia goes I’m pretty sure that it’s Davidoff cigarillos that Isaak is meant to be smoking in the novels because they are slimmer than other brands and rather pointed which would fit with the description given in the text. Davidoff is also, so wikipedia tells me, a German luxury goods brand so if Isaak is meant to be deliberately attempting to make himself more German than the Germans that might well be the perfect choice. That or perhaps he simply has good taste and with Cuba gone there’s not really much chance of him getting his hands on any Cohiba.
