I've been telling myself that I'd go for a walk one morning to appreciate the sun rising across the fields but until today I haven't actually managed it. The gateway into the courtyard faces east and the sun shines directly through the archway. It's absolutely stunning, and means that I get sunlight full in the face when I step outside to put my rubbish out. This morning on the way to the bins I decided that I'd go for at least a short walk down the landscaped parkland directly in front of the building. The parkland slopes downwards towards the fields and there's a pathway between two fields that leads to the A road I take to go just about anywhere. It was all of a 10 minute walk, with an impromptu bout of jogging for a few meters, during which I discovered that I'm not at all entirely sure how to do that properly, but in the bracing weather in the relatively early morning, with no one else around, it was exhilarating.
I have a love-hate relationship with the outdoors. When I'm inside, and have been lazy enough to get used to it, I don't at all want to go outside and take part in any kind of physical activity. I resent having to walk for 5 minutes if I've got comfortable inside in the warmth. On the other hand, once I am outside, especially if it's a little chilly, I actually enjoy it. According to the online data this morning's temperature would have been 3 degrees, feeling like -2, which sounds about right for all the mist rolling off the fields and other indicators. I did bundle up a little but didn't bother to pick up my gloves, mostly because I couldn't remember where I'd put them, and generally, that sort of temperature seems to work for me. The walk did me good at any rate, especially since my thighs and backside are still aching from the additions to my work-out routine, so walking wasn't quite as intensive. Though, I may be tempted to expand walking into jogging at least, once I've done a little research on the correct technique for it.
