The quote and the meme are unrelated though it occurs to me that posting them together implies otherwise. Regardless, I somehow doubt that a critique of my writing would really equate to a criticism of my personal qualities, which are of course: astounding. Bearing in mind that astounding is a rather neutral term by way of positivism and simply implies extremes.

Date: 2009-05-25 06:31 am (UTC)my last post was more general spatzing about the things I liked in this novel and not really worth reading, but I'll pimp you the summary as soon as I finish it. :D
You got a strong vibe of an upcoming resolution between Isaak and William, from this novel, maybe not soon, but it's quite clear you're gonna get it before the end of the series (that we'll unfortunately never read), and from the way you seee William becoming quite irrational when Isaak is mentioned, you got also a not really nice vibe about how this all was going to end for him...

Date: 2009-05-31 09:27 am (UTC)I recall hearing quite some time ago that as far as the notes Sunao Yoshida left behind went, after a point Isaak just dropped out of the story. And if that’s the case then I wonder how the Kentaro Yasui will handle it. After all, it’s all very well for Yoshida to leave Isaak out of his notes if he had a clear idea of what he was going to do with the character and didn’t need to write it down but that’ll leave anybody else with the dilemma of just letting the character vanish or making up their own resolution for him.

Date: 2009-06-04 04:09 pm (UTC)Uhm, that's true, I remember the role of Dietrich in the Lost Stories, and it was quite well defined, like Isaak was more in the background, supporting Cain without doing anything special. Also, the movements of AX (beside Tres, Caterina and Abel) and of the Inquisition, are handled very generically and this is something I'll be forever terribly frustrated about. I have a link for an english translation of Lost Stories, if you want to check it out.

I’ve seen some information but I would be most obliged if you could provide that link. I’m still sitting on two William pieces at the moment and canon isn’t likely to have much effect on them really but I am wondering, especially due to the points you made, if they were meant to die together because William isn’t likely to get a happy resolution regardless of what Isaak says so the only real peace he might find would be to die with Isaak instead. And in an ideal scenario William’s decision to die like that would actually reassure Caterina’s of the necessity of human emotion leading her not necessarily to make a death-bed confession to Tres but to at least acknowledge that he does indeed mean a great deal to her.

as I said, AX's members fate is not described in detail, but, as far as I've read, William's role is kind of that of the 'old generation's representative that elaborate the message the new generation is supposed to live up to, while not being able to do that on his own'.
As far as gut-feelings go, I feel the same: both William and Isaak were meant to be killed at some point, but maybe not by each other, or at least, Isaak has his leader as a more probable source of his own annihilation.

Date: 2009-06-13 09:32 pm (UTC)and considering Holy Orders for a second time. I’d automatically try to tone down the swearing which generally meant I’d revert to being blasphemous instead though at least on one occasion my muttering “Be saved, damn it” earned laughter from my company at the time.Thank you for that link. I’d seen most of it before but not the breakdown of the future plot.
I quite like the idea of Cain leaving Isaak to die, only for William to go after Isaak with the intention of dying with him once it becomes obvious that he can’t save him. In fact I have an alcohol-aided piece involving that that I’ll have to look over at some point. The only problem with it being, which is a regular problem every damn time I write William, that William always, invariably wants to kiss Isaak if at all possible. The William I write just can’t seem to keep his hands to himself if Isaak is anywhere in his vicinity and if Isaak isn’t around he just obsesses over him instead.
