Fridays are always an important time for shoggoths, for it is on a Friday, even those that fall on Tuesday, that shoggoths will ritually blink their eyes.
Shoggoths have many eyes and of course they often blink them but on a Friday this is not simply reflex and instead a deliberate pattern. It is a pattern of rippling waves like strange beacons in the night, like the shifting of tides over R'lyeh.
And at times like this, when all shoggoths blink in unison, out in the deepest ocean, in the Pacific to be precise, the earth itself shivers in response.
