Having watched the Death Note live action films since I’d given up with the anime a long time ago I did finally get around to finishing the manga a little while ago. I’d stopped just prior to the major plot point in the middle since I’d spoilered myself and it rather took away the surprise. And since I knew what was going to happen next I ended up skimming over plot summaries which persuaded me for the longest time that I probably wasn’t going to care that much about the rest of the series.

Spoilers from here on out )

Is it just me or does it sound like Light-o/Ratio is advocating a functionalist approach to things in the first episode of Death Note?

... I should probably just go have lunch now. I still don’t see what’s so terribly different about neofunctionalism either.

Kira and L, respectively. Though one them was written quite some time ago.
Not really related to this one really. And on the topic of class alignments, I’d presume L to be Lawful Neutral while Kira might be Chaotic Neutral all things considered.

Ramble with coffee this morning afternoon: the Death Note fandom has issues again over the official English translation of that Yagami kid’s name. Though as one Fandom Wank commenter pointed out, the official version does make him sound like a beer and a bad, girlie beer at that.

I blame [livejournal.com profile] kintail entirely; I’d been ignoring Death Note having caught a glimpse of what appeared to be the crazy end of fandom and lacking the knowledge that it involved internet identities and whatnot before his recommendation.
Seriously people and like-minded protoplasts, tell me if anything involves batshit, computer-ish doings and/or the breakdown of moral fibre! Or apples.

Set after chapter 37 of the manga.
